Dane & Dane Playtime: January

Dane & Dane Meetup 1/29/06 was a sloppy success!

We had a great time at the Everett Marina Off Leash… It was wet, and it was cold, but it was great to meet most of the members of Dane & Dane Playtime. Here are a few photos from our Dane madness… Next meetup will be a “Dane & Dane Birthday”!

Meet Louie.

Meet Louie.{UPDATE: 1/27/06: Today Louie went home with his new family. He now has three little girls to play with, and 5 acres to roam! I hear his portraits were a big hit too!}

Louie is a love and a half! First thing he did when he arrived here at the studio was find Olivia’s bed and roll, dig and flip around in its micro suede comfort. When we got his attention directed towards his spot between the lights, he sat and stayed… and then flipped over onto his back anticipating belly rubs. He was delighted at the sight of a tennis ball, wiggled and smiled at some massaging into his deep fur, and was very satisfied to work on Olivia’s bone while the people sat and talked.

Louie was a stray found near Bremerton. He is a neutered German Shepard mix and was wearing a Rabies tag. He seems well cared for and well trained. He has deep, sweet brown eyes, and is said to be great with dogs, cats, children of all ages, and even fowl. He is friendly to strangers, but does need to find a home with a tall fence, because he is a bit of an escape artist and LOVES to explore!

Official Pet Photographer for National Dog Day 2006

EXCITING NEWS!!! I was recently contacted by Colleen Paige, internationally recognized Animal Behaviorist and ambitious creator of “National Dog Day” (who amazingly lives just up in Port Townsend)~ In addition to inviting me to submit photos to “Ten Thousand Pixel Puppies” (which I have) she as invited me to be both her official photographer, and an official pet photographer of National Dog Day! This is quite an honor.

Yesterday she and Sailor and Tinkerbelle joined me in the studio to make some photographic magic. Here are a few more shots from our very productive (and FUN) day. I have never met a dog who is MORE of a diva than Tinkerbelle! She waltzed right into the studio, sniffed a bit, and then proceeded to walk right onto the backdrop, perfectly centered between the studio lights, and sit; waiting for her close up! Watch out America, here she comes!

Please visit these websites and tell everyone you know about National Dog Day and Ten Thousand Pixel Puppies. The sole purpose of these events is to try to save 10,000 dogs nation-wide. Colleen has spent a great majority of her life saving animals (and people too!) and now we all have a chance to join in this mission. One person at a time, we can make a difference!

I am thrilled to be so closely associated with Colleen, who I think is one of the most ambitious and enjoyable people I know, and we here at Dane & Dane are excited to see where this dynamic partnership will lead…

As a closing note, to make room for her work with National Dog Day, Colleen is currently not taking new clients for training. I still very much recommend Gila at “Good Dog Academy” for all your group training and personal pet behavior consultation needs.

First Ever Dane & Dane Playtime!

FIRST EVER DANE & DANE MEET UP {January 29th @ 1pm} check link below for details!

For those of you who are fellow Dane enthusiasts, I will have you know that we have started a “Dane & Dane Playtime” group on meetup.com

The meetup.com website allows us to regularly contact all the members of the group and to share photos and testimonials and such. For lady Olivia this is the exciting promise of some new (and large) best friends! My future goal, in addition to the monthly playtime, is to organize a yearly vacation for all of us and our giant lap dogs.

If you have a Dane, or know someone who does, please share this group with them. We are open to all friendly Danes and their owners, all over Western Wa!

Meet Zyna.

Meet Zyna. {UPDATE: 1/20/06 Zyna went home today! Zyna’s former owner saw her photo in the KHS lobby and realized she was hers}
Zyna is a very sweet and gentle black lab mix who stole my heart the second she looked at me. She is very gentle and polite, but throw a ball or bone her way and she is all wags! While Zyna was at Dane & Dane studio she made not a sound, but she was eager to sniff and sit for a cookie.
Her big brown eyes are absolutely captivating and warm, and she is definitely a fan of non-stop petting. The Humane Society tells me that Zyna was a stray from the Saquamish area, but I have no doubt that she will make a wonderfully affectionate and devoted companion!
