CityDog Magazine Spring Sneak Peek: #1

We’ve been bustling around the studio working on all kinds of projects including the final bits for the upcoming Spring issue of CityDog magazine.  Although we try not to give “away the goods” before the magazine is on news stands – we wanted to share a couple images from the “Weekend Getaway” trip.

Can you guess where this incredible Northwest destination it is??  Hint: It snowed nearly the entire time we were there!

Mystery Model: Westie is the word

We can’t show you too much of this sitting, or tell you too much about it because it’s a surprise for a certain someone, and as always, we don’t want to spoil it!

But what we can say, is that this little Westie stole the show. He was like putty in our combined hands and was up for just about anything we asked of him. He’s very happy to have a loving family so simply ADORES him (and man, can we see why!)

Enjoy mr. mystery westie (& co.)

Seattle Kennel Club Show: 2009

Well we are now a couple weeks past the crazy caffeine-filled weekend of terriers and retrievers, spaniels and hounds, bullies, bouviers and bassets. We are just now catching our breath from all the action!

As you probably know by now (because we’ve mentioned it on our web site, in our last newsletter and it was all over the newspaper) dane + dane studios was a proud sponsor of the Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show – and even more importantly, we were the “Official Pet Portrait Photographer of the Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show.” Weeeee!

Amy, Lisa, Carol, Melissa and I successfully survived the prancing, dancing, fetching, catching, spinning, winning weekend with some great photos to show for it!

We were working double-duty at the show, proudly premiering Dog is Good for the first time at the Seattle Dog Show. My partners, Gila and Jon were up from California, braving the Seattle snow, wind and rain to run our booth. We had a stellar weekend of sales, smiles and people walking by reading our tee-shirts out loud… “It’s all fun and games until someone ends up in a cone… hah, That’s Funny!”

It was great fun.

We were joined by several of our friends including, Pooper Trooper, CityDog Magazine, Laughing Raven Design, and a ton of you, our wonderful clients who stopped by to say hello.

Thanks for all your support and big love to Brent and Kirk at Varsity who made it all happen. Enjoy the photos and we’ll see ya next year!

Allie, Opie and Charley

Last Saturday we had a roll on the floor with a fab family of three. Three dogs that is, there were two humans involved too, but they pretty much kept to the furniture and left the rolling to us.

Allie, of course, stole my heart immediately when I arrived – her soulful Dane eyes, pawing gestures, lovey snuggles and hilarious poses were all very reminiscent of my girl Olivia. She spent a great deal of time cuddling dad or sitting/standing like a human.

Opie seems to be a mini version of Allie, and although his whole body is about the size of her head – they look somehow, distantly related. Like perhaps he is the offspring of her weird cousin.  In a way, I guess he kind of is!?

Charley, the oldest child, was quiet and calm. Eager for treats he perked right up at the word, but mostly just watched the other two perform: Just as an older brother should behave.

By far the most charming bit of the whole morning was watching (and documenting) Opie and Allie cuddling up together, cheek to cheek, for some snoozing in mom’s lap. Just ridiculous. Insert exaggerated “awwwwwww” here :)

Although we happened to have our shoot on a typical rainy Seattle day, turns out we didn’t have to leave the living room to sneak some wonderful “day in the life of” portraits.

Bonus!  This image of Allie will be appearing as a full-page photo in the Spring issue of CityDog Magazine, congrats pretty girl!
